Rough Cut #3

This is my last rough cut before my final.  I have some sound and I just need to plug some more in.  I more or less wanted to show my stages in my editing rather than do it all and then change some things here and there.

Rough Cut #2

This is the second cut that I did.  I trimmed down the images and I tried to make them flow a little bit more.  There is still no sound but I wanted to make sure that my images were correct first.

Rough Cut #1

This is just a rough cut that has no sounds yet.  I have put all my images together and I still need to edit that.

Strategy

My strategy for this drift was to walk in a different area so I could get more sounds and different sounds.  I decided to walk in Brookfield.  I shook a dice and it led me around Brookfield.  I didn't get a lot of sounds in the first walk so I wanted to choose a place that would benefit me and the sound quality.

When looking for my sound and images I want to choose sounds and images that will be useful.  My last 2 drifts I felt that I had way to many non-useful images or sounds and I wanted to find things that I would really want to use.

9.  If I encounter an animal will I be able to capture them?
10.  Will I be able to make this in one walk or will I have to go out more than once to find sounds and images?

Question 4

I think my favorite part about the walk was from drift 1.  I was walking and there was this older woman shoveling and I asked her is I could record her sound.  We began talking and it just made me feel good only because I love meeting new people and it's great to hear an older voice and hear what they have to say.

Question 3

One thing that surprised me after the drift 2 walk was that I for some reason didn't know that we had to take videos so I had to go out again on the same walk and take videos.  It was frustrating because I thought I was on my way to being done.  Also after drift 2 I didn't think it was going to be as intense as it was.  I thought it was going to be like drift 1 but there was a lot more to do and I wish I would have given myself more time.  Lastly I guess I didn't realize how compact my city is that I live in.  I didn't think of it like that until this walk and I don't see anything wrong with it but I think I saw the same things and heard the same things.

Question 2

With the two drifts that kept me at ease was that there were plenty of teachers to help me out.  I think that the work days that we are allowed to come in and get help are great.  I used them and I then felt that I knew what I was doing rather than doing it all wrong and feeling worried about what my TA was going to say.  I think that during drift 1 when I did find some sounds it made me feel less worried about what I was going to use.  There were three sounds that I knew were going to work really well and that made me feel better once I was done with the walk.

Question 1

One of the situations that bothered me about both drifts is that the walks are so long.  I only have a problem with it because I normally find my source of work or I work in one place.  So walking for 3 hours takes a long time and I am in a places that I am not use to.  The other thing that bothers me about drift 1 is that on my walk it was so snowy and so no one was around.  It was hard to find sounds that I could use so I felt that I had little to work with.
